Recap: Digital Schmooze Cruise

The crowd tonight on the Potomac River was a mix of people from media, tech/social media, artistic/creative, government, legal, business/entrepreneur, and other areas. It was a joint event that 1Piazza held with the Capital Cabal.

We cruised from Georgetown down under the bridges past the Lincoln Memorial and into the large open area where the Anacostia River meets the Potomac River, and then back. It was an enjoyable time, and the attendees commented how nice it was to have this event happen.

We’re excited to have had a full boat in this sold-out event, and hope to repeat the format in the future with a few twists.

1Piazza July update

The summer in the DC area is one of the coolest in years… and most of us are loving it! The next Startup Rockstars – #6! – is approaching on September 9. It will be hosted again by Latham & Watkins, in a larger space and with a reivised format. The presenters will be announced in early August. The photo below is from the June 2009 Startup Rockstars after-demos networking.

This month we’ve also had some planning meetings for evolving 1Piazza towards the vision that has always been a part of it. The mission statement has been worked on, and a plan of action is being drawn up. More details later – contact us if you’d like to know more.

We’re also planning a fall workshop for startups, as mentioned in the June event. Expect the event to be posted by early September.

1 Piazza – Spring Social

Along with the Social Media Club DC and Job Matchbox, 1 Piazza is co-hosting a Spring Social at the Science Club in Washington DC. You can read all about it, and RSVP, on the related meetup event page Spring Social w/Social Media Club.
